The online hub for creatives using AI in animation production
🤯🤯 Okay, the new @RunwayML Act One update is bonkers!
This is "The Unwanted."
I wanted to test how this could work in a dialogue exchange scene with video to video.
Here's a little "fun" to tuck you in at night. Enjoy!
As AI tools advance, we all have to remember that the tools are in service of our stories. Choose wisely.
I created a scene test below for my Blood Moon IP using eight different AI tools. Can you guess which ones I used?
Watch “Father Time,” My First Sora Short Film.
Yesterday, I finally had the chance to dive into Sora, and within 24 hours, I created “Father Time”, using 100% text-to-video. While I wasn’t part of the early @OpenAI Sora Alpha program, this was my opportunity to experiment with this groundbreaking tool—and here are my first impressions.
Sora shines when you bring a clear narrative vision and carefully crafted, descriptive prompts. It’s a reminder that even the most advanced tools are only as powerful as the story you have to tell. I chose text-to-video for its unparalleled fidelity—some of the best I’ve seen—and leaned heavily on Sora’s storyboard feature and remix function, which were game-changers in achieving cohesion and depth. When I tried image to video, some generations completely changed the visual, which drove me to focus more on the storyboard feature.
“Father Time” is a poetic companion piece to one of my most acclaimed AI films, “Borrowing Time.” It’s a story I’ve been tinkering with all year, chronicling a young man’s journey through time as he connects with his past relatives, reliving the joys and sorrows of life’s defining moments.
As a filmmaker and artist, I always aim to use the best tools available to bring my stories to life. But let me be clear: tools are just that—tools. They’re instruments that amplify the core of what matters most: human creativity, artistry, and storytelling.
At @promise_ai, the AI film and TV studio I co-founded, we’re committed to pushing the boundaries of technology while ensuring that human creative expression remains at the heart of everything we do. “Father Time” is just one example of what’s possible when you combine cutting-edge tools with timeless storytelling. I can’t wait to share more with you as this journey unfolds.
Watch my new @BMW Spec Film "King Me," created primarily with Sora and inspired by the original BMW Films series.
This continues my AI spec Ad tradition. I remember releasing the Adidas spec commercial over a year ago. It moved the needle for AI films. More recently, I co-directed one of the Gen AI Coca-Cola broadcast commercials, which proved we were primed for the next stage.
Now, I've co-founded a film and television studio, @promise_ai which is built to create the next wave of AI-generated films and content.
The future is bright.
Udio was used to create the music. Eleven Labs for Sound. And Runway Act One for Lip Sync. Mash the tools together and make your stories.
This is "The Rancher"
One of my favorite things about these Generative AI tools is how I can visually and creatively share my thoughts with the world. This is a game changer for artists and filmmakers with a notebook full of ideas.
I had a dream the other night about being on a ranch in the middle of nowhere and discovering a female alien that crash-landed on my farm. I opted to help, but whether they were friends or foes was unclear.
Keep creating. Keep experimenting. Ideas can spark from anywhere. Let's get these stories out there.
This is one of the main things I look forward to at Promise.
Building a culture of getting ideas made and out there for the world to experience.
Showcase of some shots of a short movie i made with AI. The tools i used are:
- Midjourney and Alpaca ML for the concept art
- Runaway, Tooncrafter and LensGO for the AI Animation
- After Effect for the compositing
Spooky season is among us. I present my latest horror short, "El Visitante," aka The Visitor.
Will silent films make a comeback because of Gen AI?
While out here in Copenhagen, I noticed that many of the color palettes in architecture, art, and design use the color black. This made me think of this story as I sit in a new European city with these fantastic AI tools.
Experimenting with expanding horizontal scenes from one of the most prolific film directors of all time, Stanley Kubrick, using Adobe's generative fill and Adobe After Effects.
